Teninispalooza - 24 Hours of Tennis

Tennispalooza_l WHAT: Tennispalooza – “Serve Your School”
WHEN: Aug. 13 & 14
WHERE: Firethorne Country Club (1108 Firethorne Club Drive, Marvin, NC 28173)
WHO: Dr. James Menkhaus of Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants and Michael Watson, a Marvin Ridge High tennis coach
WHY: To promote healthy living and raise money for schools in our area.

MORE: Dr. Menkhaus and Coach Watson played tennis (doubles) for 24 hours straight (Friday 5 p.m. - Saturday 5 p.m.)! They sold spots for $25 each to those wanting to play them during that time to raise money.

Additionally, beginning Saturday morning, middle schoolers who have gathered donations per game will play matches to raise money, and high schoolers will play their matches in the afternoon.

Students who participated raised money for the school of their choice.

The event raised $7,000 dollars to support school tennis teams.

2010 was the inaugural year for the event. Dr. James Menkhaus and Michael Watson have already started planning for Tennispalooza 2011.
