Southeast Anesthesiology Named a Finalist for Charlotte Business Journal’s Excellence in Healthcare Awards
Southeast Anesthesiology was named a finalist in the category of Education in Healthcare for its self-published children’s book developed to address the specific needs and fears of children preparing to go under anesthesia.
The Charlotte Business Journal’s annual Excellence in Health Care Awards honors the region’s top health care industry leaders, innovators and companies.
Southeast’s book, entitled “My (Brachiosaurus) Anesthesiologist Helps Me Sleep,” explains how anesthesia works from the perspective of a four-year old child. Research has shown that the concerns of children and infants who are about to undergo surgery are quite different from adults, and Southeast’s book takes children and parents through the entire process from initial anesthesia to waking up after a procedure.
Through years of experience with thousands of families, Southeast has developed a supporting educational program for health care practitioners, pediatric patients and parents to help assure the best possible care and surgical outcomes. As a part of this effort, “My Brachiosaurus Anesthesiologist Helps Me Sleep” will be provided to children visiting any hospital Southeast serves.
Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants has the largest pediatric anesthesiology practice in North Carolina, with 11 specialists who are double-board certified in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology from the American Board of Anesthesiology.
